DAHON Club Riding Around Lake

DAHON bikes are really taking off in China. In a country where riding a bicycle can be seen as a sign of poverty, there is a certain status, an air of savvy sophistication, and health consciousness associated with being seen on a DAHON folder. With the support of dedicated local dealers, this has led to DAHON clubs springing up in huge numbers all over the country. DAHON China regularly holds special events and activities and probably one of the most ambitious has just wrapped up.

Beginning on July 22nd members from DAHON clubs across the country came together to retrace the route of the world’s highest bike race, the Qinghai Lake International Cycling Race. Covering a total distance of over 2,680km, at an average altitude of 2,392 meters over 7 days, the race circuit is designed with the vast Qinghai Lake as the center and extends to the surrounding area, taking in the beautiful plateau scenery along the way. This is no simple scenic tour, however; as well as being physically demanding, participants and DAHON have already raised money and charitable donations such as books and stationery, for a special needs school which they visited while en route. The cyclists were accompanied by a doctor, an experienced pro cyclist, and a support bus, ensuring a safe crossing of the finish line at the end of the week.
