Folding bike brand founder and CEO Dr. David Hon shares strategy and vision
December 8, 2020, Guangzhou, China -The China Bicycle Industry Conference 2020, and Bicycle Style Conference 2021, were hosted last month from November 19th-22nd by the China Bicycle Association, in Jiulong Lake, Huadu, Guangzhou, China. Accessing new opportunities and developing new innovations were the event themes, with keynote speeches, special forums, bicycle design conferences and test riding making for a packed schedule. Conference visitors also were among the very first to get an exclusive look at, and test ride of, DAHON’s latest models.
As a pioneer of the world-renowned folding bike, DAHON showcased a variety of advanced new models, and received widespread praise from event attendees for their industry expertise and commitment. Some of the brand’s latest folding bikes available for test riding included the compact Curl i3, a mid-motor pedelec, and the full-sized, foldable, 27.5″ GB-2. On November 20th, DAHON CEO and founder, Dr. David Hon led a meeting with industry elites, where he introduced the offline and online concept of “Transporting and Importing”. Hon explained: Transporting ” refers to not only exporting our products, but also investing in target sales areas, such as factories and distribution companies, or even acquiring local brands, learning local culture and management methods, in order to achieve success in the global layout.” Importing “refers to the introduction of design, technology and brand marketing experience to improve product competitiveness and meet the increasingly critical needs of global users.”
As the global bicycle market shows great recovery momentum, DAHON hopes to increase its cooperation with bike companies and manufacturers through its “Sharing 360” strategy, which supports businesses in giving users the best products and services, via licensed technologies and double branding arrangements. During the event, Hon shared with the industry the latest progress of this strategy and the brand’s development vision. He reported the program has achieved more than $4.5 million in initial sales, and outlined to Cycling Magazine how companies can cooperate with DAHON through four methods of sharing: brand, technology, bicycles, and parts & accessories.
Hon also participated in the Bicycle Design Conference New Product Testing Activity session in Yangcheng. He explained business support methods such as technology sharing and brand sharing, alongside the company’s DAHON ABC pricing strategy, which draws upon the currency data of leading banks around the world, to maximize sales profits.
As the China Bicycle Industry Conference came to an end, Hon expressed the great value of the relationship between DAHON and the China Bicycle Association, and highlighted the importance of such a relationship for all bicycle brands and manufacturers in providing a better future for the global industry.
