09 Mar Dahon to Celebrate 30th Anniversary at Taipei Cycle Show
Dahon launches “30 Years Strong” campaign and reveals five new models for 2013 product line.
Taipei, Taiwan, March 9, 2012 – Dahon, the world leader in folding bicycles, kicks off the year with the celebration of its “30 Years Strong” Anniversary campaign and the introduction of five new bike models during Taipei Cycle Show 2012.
The campaign highlights the company’s rich history, beginning when Dr. David Hon, one of the leading experts in laser technology, decided to leave building space rockets and focus on green transportation in 1982. Joined by brother Henry Hon, today company vice president, the two went on to perfect the Dahon folding bike; establishing it as a premium brand in the industry amongst standard bike contenders.
After 30 years of evolution, Dahon has sold more than 5 million folding bikes and has been issued over 220 patents that are used in 98% of all folding bikes on the market today. In support of the anniversary campaign, the company will produce 30 special limited edition bicycles and 300 replica models. Special promotions, giveaways and celebrations are scheduled throughout the year and will be communicated across diverse online and print publications.
The campaign will further be featured as an interactive widget on Dahon’s new official website, www.dahonbikes.com, which has been redesigned to support a mesh of social media streams from various platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.
New for 2013 Product Range
At Taipei Cycle Show Dahon is also presenting five new striking models for its 2013 product range. A special highlight of the presentation is the EEZZ, winner of one of the first annual TCS D&I awards. Weighing only 9 kg, the new model features a concealed folding hinge within the frame as well as the innovative vertical folding technology that allows the bike to fold in less than 7 seconds.
Another model new to the 2013 product line is the VYBE D2, an economic version of the popular Eco C7 model, and incorporates a 2-speed kickback coaster brake, Sturmey Archer rear hub, and a dynamo front hub and light. Combining “foldability” with electric power, Dahon further reveals the IKON, a completely new folding e-bike energized by TranzX Power Support Technology. Two high-performance bikes, the Formula S20 and VISC P18 will also make their international debut at Taipei Cycle Show 2012.
All new models and a look into Dahon’s history will be on display at Booth S0614 located on the 6th floor at Taipei Cycle Show.
