DAHON Wins Two Taipei Cycle Design & Innovation Awards

Clinch D10 and 4D Quickpark™ stem scoop double win for folding bike company

dahon logoTaipei, Taiwan, March 18, 2015 – The world’s largest manufacturer of folding bikes and category leader, DAHON, has been awarded two Taipei Cycle Design & Innovation Awards. Organized by TAITRA and TBA and executed by the iF Design Forum, the awards were chosen from some 209 entrants from around the globe, with design quality, functionality, choice of material and environmental sustainability being just a few of the criteria.
From DAHON’s 2015 line-up, the Clinch D10 is unlike any other folding bike on the market, in both appearance and performance. It utilizes DAHON’s celebrated LockJaw hinge that integrates a strong and almost invisible folding hinge into a rigid and ergonomic frame design. Along with an oversized handle post atop a patent-pending inverted fork post, the Clinch D10 is easily the stiffest folding bike so far. A carbon 451 mm wheelset. A 10-speed SRAM Red rear derailleur brings superior shifting and ride. On top of that, a universal hex tool (Datool) sits neatly stored in the handlebar including 5 & 6 hex bits. For 2016 DAHON will offer the Clinch D10 with two-component level packages: one premium, high-end, and one still high performance but with a more accessible price point. National distributors may order to their market preferences.
Also picking up a d&i award is the DAHON 4D Quickpark™ Stem. The invention allows for a huge range of adjustment for optimal positioning for demanding cyclists, as well as for parking by a simple 90-degree twist – totally flattening protruding handlebars – all without the need for tools. When coupled with Dahon’s patented folding pedals, one can reduce a full-sized bike from 3D to 2D in seconds, parking almost completely flat against the wall.  Made of aluminum alloy and weighing in at 600 grams, handlebar angles and height can be easily adjusted, by way of an ingenious mechanism to optimize riding comfort every time.
DAHON CEO Dr. David Hon expressed his thoughts on the awards, “We are thrilled to receive two awards from these highly respected organizations in the bicycle industry. It is testament to the hard work of our in-house R&D team who strive not only for technological innovation for higher performance, but to bring to market greater convenient and elegant solutions for a green and friendly living.”
