Folding Bike Leader to Expand Operations in Eastern Europe

Duarte, CA, November 9, 2012 – Dahon, the world leader in folding bicycles, announces plans to expand sales and business operations in Eastern Europe, getting a timely start in this newest and rapidly expanding market for high-end bicycles and accessories. To accommodate their ambitious operational expansion, Dahon will appoint a new area sales manager for Eastern Europe, who will be chosen before end-of-year to oversee all partner, distributor and product activities in this promising segment.

Over the past decade, the bicycle has experienced rejuvenated popularity world-wide, both as a more economical and environmentally-friendly means of transportation and as a contemporary, “inverted” symbol of status and style. As economic conditions in Eastern Europe improve, its consumers are enjoying increased brand-consciousness – presenting Dahon with an attractive opportunity to develop its business efforts.

“Having recently moved all production for Europe to Bulgaria, it only makes sense to increase our sales and marketing focus in the area,” says Dr. David Hon, CEO. “Adding an experienced sales manager for the territory is absolutely necessary in order to properly maintain and grow the markets in Eastern Europe.”

Expanding the infrastructure of their business operations there, Dahon is currently considering candidates to fulfill this key position for a January start-up. Following this strategy, the company will be able to provide its partners with faster delivery times as it takes advantage of heightened activity in the bicycle trade.

The appointed manager is designated to be primary contact for sales concerns internally as well as externally, working with distributors and key retailers to increase sales and service for the market. These efforts will more effectively utilize the newly created manufacturing capabilities of Dahon Europe and, through market-to-manufacture proximity, fulfill the company’s corporate goals of supporting and promoting green mobility – Dahon’s imperial aim since its founding three decades ago.
