We write to you from the midst of a sweltering New York heatwave in which we spend our days huddled desperately around our undersized desk fans as Bailey the Shop Dog languishes mournfully in his overly thick, shaggy fur coat. We are all of us dedicated to continuing to provide excellent folding bikes to the masses that cavalierly drift through NYCeWheels, tantalizingly cold ice cream cones and slushies in hand, in search of the perfect steel or aluminum steed which will bear them in style and comfort all the way to Coney Island, or whatever wonderful beach getaway they have planned.
We aren’t jealous, I swear.
We are, however, completely stocked in your wonderful bikes, and take great satisfaction in pairing our customers with Dahons that regularly blow them away, from the entry-level all the way up to the highest of high-end racers.
Oftentimes we get folks coming in who realize a quality folding bike would be the perfect complement to their lifestyle but are crestfallen when they examine the price tags on some of the handmade steel frame and lithe ultra-light racers in our shop. For these people, we often recommend the Dahon Mariner D7, which hangs in the middle of our display wall, its gorgeous silver paint job drawing the gaze of all who come near. Despite its entry-level price, this little bike never fails to astound customers, who love its simplicity, smooth ride, and a complete complement of commute-ready fenders and a rear rack. Add in its special corrosion-resistant coating, and it’s no wonder the Mariner is a favorite for those looking to spend their summer relaxing near the sea.
Very Compact and stylish design for a comfortable ride
For customers looking for a little more thrill in their summer travels, there’s the Jetstream, which often inspires love at first sight. With its dual suspension system and extremely durable, versatile chassis–I’ve seen customers do everything from installing rear and front racks to a full electric conversion on this bike–this is the ultimate folding adventure bike.
And then, of course, there are the brand new, incredibly shiny, and exquisitely beautiful new 30 Year Anniversary Carbon folding bikes. What can we even say? These sleek black speed machines inspire admiration, lust, envy, jubilation…really an all-inclusive hodgepodge of intense human emotion. Everyone loves these jaw-dropping bikes: techies love the SRAM Red and Shimano Dura-Ace components, while casual passers-by admire small details like the carbon seat post and saddle rails.
