DAHON recently received an email from Zhenia and Pasha, both from Moscow, as they were making their way across the US with their folding bikes in order to source material for their business. The couple make lamps, interior, and exterior decor, furniture, and accessories using re-purposed objects, and the results are both functional and beautiful. “We use various natural materials and textures, we change them a little for their new needs, without depriving them of their essence, without transforming shape beyond recognition. At the same time, we don’t mind using industrially created elements, we combine them, often changing the mission of a thing completely…all we need is already in our hands”.The pair regularly use their Dahon Vitesse D7HG and Vitesse P18 for their day-to-day errands as well as scouting trips at home and abroad. On choosing their folding bikes Zhenia said “we are focused on mobility because when you are on your way far away from home you can’t afford spare or oversized things, especially bikes. Then the vision of this compactness came further into our life. Personally, I drive a Smart and two folding Dahons perfectly fit inside the trunk. We adore cycling for pleasure and training in Moscow, and Dahon folding bikes are the best of the many bikes we have yet tried”. Their latest trip took place over several months, stopping off in Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and even Hawaii,  searching for new materials, stories, and antiques. Folding bikes turned out to be the ideal practical and ecological accessory for their travels. “We always want to learn, to see, to know, and to experience more! When you work hard during the year spring and summer seem to be a nice period to go get lost for some time and return with a bunch of new ideas!” You can check out more photos from the couple on their facebook page and website.
